Parish Mission Statement

The primary apostolate of the St. Hyacinth Basilica Parish is to model a Christian community by prayer and working together. Moreover, the parish is a part of the Church of the Archdiocese of Chicago. The ministry will proceed according to the dictates of the Conference of Bishops for the American Church.

Recognizing the ever—changing profile of the parish, the ministration will be adapted to the needs of the people.

As a non—territorial parish, liturgical celebrations will be maintained for the Polish people. The ministry, therefore, will extend to all people of the parish area, but also to people throughout the metropolitan area of Chicago (and at times even beyond this area).

Feast and cultural celebrations for the Polish people will be maintained, together with a sensitivity to the devotion and the frequency of their desire for the Sacraments, especially the Eucharist and Reconciliation.

Other groups, who form the parish community, will be accommodated. An apostolic commitment to people of all other nationalities is fostered. The ministration will reach out to people of all ages, however and whenever possible. Particular attempt will be made to reach those alienated, separated, estranged from the Church for whatever reason.

An attempt will be made to maintain the beauty of this center of worship in all its dignity.
